Congratulations to Trina Snooks as being chosen Manager
for our Canada Winter Games Team for 2011 in Nova Scotia. Trina
is also the Apprentice Coach under the Women in Coaching Canada
Games Apprenticeship Program (A joint initiative of CACs
Women in Coaching program, the Provincial/Territorial Coaching
Representatives Committee, the Canada Games Council, and Sport
Canada, the Canada Games Apprenticeship Program aims to provide
women apprentice coaches with domestic multi-sport Games experience.)
New rule
changes in effect January 1, 2010
The FCA Board
of Directors has confirmed an amendment to the FCA Rules governing
the age classes for Cadet and Junior archers in Canada.
This amendment
is to make Canadian age classes consistent with FITA age classes
as of 01 January 2010. This amendment is effective as of 01 January
2010 for all competitions in Canada sanctioned by the FCA and
FITA.
The effective
rules as amended are as follows (amendments are underlined):
4.2.3.3 To
compete in a Junior class, a person must be 20 or younger on December
31 of the current year.
4.2.3.4 To
compete in a Cadet class, a person must be 17 or younger on December
31 of the current year.
11.13 Age
Classes
Refer to section 4.2.3 for FCA age classes
This amendment
does not pertain to any tournaments sanctioned by IFAA, IBO or
any other archery governing body.
Amendments
will be made to the FCA website version of the rules as soon as
practicable.

Mission
Statement
- to
foster, to perpetuate and direct the practice of field, target
and 3D archery;
- to
foster a spirit of good fellowship and sportsmanship among all
members;
- to
encourage the use of the bow in the hunting of all legal game,
birds and animals, and to protect, improve, and increase the
privileges of bow and arrow hunters;
- to
give all possible assistance to non-resident archery hunters
who wish to hunt in New Brunswick;
- to
embrace all archers and particularly those widely separated
individual archers who have no archery affiliations, in one
parent organization;and
- to
encourage membership, to adopt, interpret and enforce rule for
the practice of archery in all its forms.
The
services that the Association offers to all its members are
as follows:
- provides
the archer with a collective voice to government;
- provides
archery clinics, judges seminars, and coaching seminars;
- provides
liability insurance for all activities of archery to each member
through the Federation of Canadian Archers Inc.;
- provides
bow equipment kits on a rental basis to clubs upon request;
- promotes
the Canbow Archery Program for FITA and 3D for the purpose of
Youth development;
- hosts
provincial championships annually;
- keeps
records of archers' scores and rankings;
- makes
available various products - score cards, rule books, t-shirts,
caps;
- provides
a framework necessary for youth to participate in Canada Games
programs and competition;
- supports
the promotion of archery within the province whether for competition
or recreational nature; and
- supports
the bowhunter education and works in conjunction with the Department
of Natural Resources in issues of importance to the Bowhunter.
